Campaign Update PDF Print E-mail
Written by Calvin Jones
Friday, 13 February 2004

The community campaign to stop the Sludge Drying Plant at Sunny Rock is gaining momentum after last Wednesday's heated meeting with the developers. The campaign received front page coverage in this week's edition of the Southern Star, this website and associated e-mail mailing list were set up and the issue was aired on 103FM County Sound's West Cork Today programme on 13.02.2004.

Committee members of the Reenascreena Community Action Group continue to pursue several avenues of enquiry both to undermine the strength of the developers case in favour of the project and to compile a compelling suite of objections against it. The primary goals for the Community Meeting on Monday 16.02.2004 are:

  • To urge as many local people as possible to lodge formal objections to planning application 04/498
  • To suggest solid, factually based grounds for those objections
  • To ensure that everyone at the meeting is aware of the correct procedure for submitting such objections

Guidelines for submitting effective objections to planning applications will be published on this website shortly.
