 Andrew O'Sullivan and Jim Hayes enjoy the view The
only way was up this St. Patrick's Day for three members of the
Reenascreena Community Action Group who headed for the summit of
Carrigfadda hill. Jim Hayes, Andrew O'Sullivan and Calvin Jones took up
the challenge to investigate possible routes for a public walk to the
top of the hill. Coillte,
who own a substantial piece of ground in the area that includes the
summit of Carrigfadda, responded enthusiastically when approached about
a public footpath to the cross on top of the hill.

 Teddy Cook to visit Reenascreena Heritage specialist Teddy Cook has confirmed that he plans to visit the
Reenascreena area in the near future to advise the Community Action
Group on aspects of preserving the area's rich natural heritage. Mr
Cook will be based in Maulatanvally for two days. He will spend the
time assessing the village of Reenascreena and the surrounding area
before meeting with the Community Action Group committee to discuss
potential projects.

on Monday night as John O'Regan, the developer proposing to site a
controversial sludge processing plant in the area announced his
intention to withdraw his planning application. |

The community campaign to stop the Sludge Drying Plant at Sunny Rock
is gaining momentum after last Wednesday's heated meeting with the
developers. The campaign received front page coverage in this week's
edition of the Southern Star, this website and associated e-mail
mailing list were set up and the issue was aired on 103FM County
Sound's West Cork Today programme on 13.02.2004.
