A survey commissioned by RCAG and funded by West Cork Leader confirms relatively high biodiversity levels along the proposed walking route from Carigfadda Church up to the hill's summit.

The report's author, Environmental Consultant Pascal Sweeney, concludes: "Overall, this route gives the walker the opportunity to appreciate a range of typical Irish rural habitats and species."

This survey is invaluable as a baseline, and provides the information we need both to preserve and enhance existing habitats and to produce interesting and informative interpretation material for the walking route.
