On 15th
of January Reenascreena School took a trip to the West Cork Art
Centre to see the exhibition in Skibbereen.
Two musicians Nico and
Martin started them off with some excellent music. Nico played the
guitar mostly and singing songs and poems. Martin played the mobile
bass, didgeridoo and the saw.
Alison Trim the Artist
took us next door to show us some of the other children's work,
which was baked on construction.
Most of the children loved
the musical act from the two excellent musicians. I interviewed some
of the children, this is what they said.
Robert: I
thought the pirate act was really funny because we had to think of
something in the chest.
Michael: The
scariest part was when the lady in the story took the person apart to
make a violin.
The children had very good
fun at the art centre and so did I.

On 15th
of January, Reenascreena N.S. went to the West Cork Art Centre for an
exhibition, but got a surprise when they found out they were going to
be doing a musical workshop with Martin and Nico.
Martin and Nico are two
brilliant funny entertainers. Martin was playing the double bass and
didgeridoo, while Nico played guitar, the piano accordion and sang a
number of songs. It was most entertaining act I've ever seen. The
pupils of Reenascreena told me they had been there a few times before
and they said it was the best workshop they had ever been to. They
also told me that Nico had them acting out and playing games.
Their teachers Mrs Dignan
and Ms Murphy said the children and they had learned a lot and can't
wait to go back next time. I also learned a lot and can't wait to
see what they'll be hosting next time.

RCAG has formally submitted an outline proposal for the Carrigfadda public walk and Amenity area to Peter O'Rourke, forest manager with Coillte Teoranta.
A copy of the proposal is available in the download area .
RCAG has already secured funding from Cork County Council to cover some of the costs associated with the project, and hopes to secure the rest through the Forestry Service administered Neighbourwoods Scheme. Eugene Curren, the Forestry Service representative who administers the scheme in the area was also sent a copy of the proposal and is enthusiastic about it's inclusion in the scheme.
Look out for updates here as they become available.
